I'm a contemporary wedding and portrait photographer, capturing "real" moments with a creative eye.  While sometimes a little dorky, I use humor and conversation instead of posing to help you relax before the camera. I'm a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, which means I photograph emotional, real moments like Mom stifling tears when she sees her daughter in her wedding dress, the groom's gentle caress, and Grandpa "getting down" and laughing on the dance floor.  These are the little wonderful moments you'll want to remember forever. You spend months planning a wedding, so why not invest in quality photography that shows the effort was so totally worth it?

I also love photographing portraits and try to capture the real you in action. I have some tricks up my sleeve to erase double-chins and other quirks we all have, but I love it when a photo shows a snippet of your personality.  Here's a little of my personality:

laurie9.jpg Some random facts about me:

1.) In kindergarten, my clown drawing graced the cover of our clown recital program. I guess my scribbles resembled a clown more than the other kids'. Be very jealous.

2.) I'm a choir geek from way back. I've sung my fair share of madrigals. Don't know what those are?  It's okay, they're kind of dorky.

3.) In addition to photography, animals, books and learning about different cultures are my passions.

4.) I own two adorable mutts, Winston and Murphy.

5.) If I could have an entire house filled with animals and children, I would be a very happy camper.

6.) I used to work in politics and have a degree in political science. Then I realized I much prefer being an outsider looking in rather than an insider wanting out.

7.) I love trashy reality television, Bravo, HBO, and Showtime original shows. Yay True Blood!

8.) I also love independent and period films.

9.) I've been told I have a contagious laugh. It's pretty loud. I just can't help myself. True story: my husband's best man, who is from Nicaragua, gave a toast at my wedding and talked about how I love to "jiggle."  In fact, I "jiggle" all of the time and when I "jiggle" everyone "jiggles." It took me for a moment to realize what in the world he was talking about (at first I thought he was talking about my cleavage since I was wearing a low cut wedding dress).  But then I started laughing and said, "he means GIGGLES not JIGGLES." Got to love the difference between the Spanish and English alphabet.  :)

10.) I attended the Ohio State University. My husband attended the University of Michigan. We're like that disgusting ESPN commercial. I love football season and talking smack.
