Such cuties.
Winston and Murphy

This is so them…

I was going through old photos from this summer, and I couldn’t resist posting this photo of my sister and new brother-in-law.  I’ve seen these expressions many, many times from them.  He makes her laugh.

Peacock News

Several people have recently contacted me about setting up headshot and portrait sessions during the fall.  The good news is that I love doing them and can fit them in around the weddings I shoot - especially if they occur on weekdays.  So feel free to contact me if this is something you’re interested in before the holidays.  Portraits make for great gift-giving.

Second, I love boudoir shoots and am available to start scheduling those now so you will have your photos in time to give to your special someone for Valentine’s Day.

If you and your girlfriends want to get together and have a boudoir photography party, I’d love to hear from you too.  Boudoir parties are where a group of gals get a fancy hotel room, bring lots of champagne and a whole lotta whoopin’ and hollerin’ to encourage each other to bring your “Sexy Back” before the camera.  The resulting photos are less playboy and more retro pin-up.  (We all know that what you CAN’T see is so more appealing than laying it all out there.)  Afterward each girl receives a little black book of portraits to give to her man for Valentine’s Day.  How could you go wrong with a gift like that?

Lastly, I’ve been meaning to tell y’all that I’ve been recently accepted into the Wedding Photojournalist Association.  It’s not easy to get accepted, so I did a little dance when I heard the good news.  I’ve been working so hard to improve my craft.

Laura & Steve: engagement session

I met Steve through his Flickr site.  He’s an awesome photographer, and his fiance, Laura, has a wonderful baking blog.  They are the epitome of creative energy, so nevertheless, their engagement session in Wicker Park was all about color, texture, and…fun.

I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year.  Don’t worry, Laura, more photos, especially of your shoes, are on their way soon.  In the meantime, enjoy!

An Apple a day…

Did not keep the doctor away.  :(  My Mac is in for repair right now.

No worries.  I haven’t lost any data.  (By the way, I triple back-up so all clients’ photos are safe.)  My disc drive has slowly been dying on me and now it won’t read or burn discs.

So what am I to do without my computer to keep me company?  I’ll finally do my laundry, mop the floors, take my dogs, Winston and Murphy, on long walks, and shoot another wedding with the fabulous Jeremy Lawson on Saturday and one of my client’s engagement session on Sunday.  I suppose I’ll keep busy.

As far as e-mails go, I still have my Iphone and will be able to stay in touch with all of you cuties.

I’ll manage.  But I’m still sad.  I miss my baby.

Light and shadows

More and more I’m enjoying the way light and shadow play in the scenes I photograph. Recently I was the second photographer for Laura Meyer at a wedding ceremony held at Bond Chapel, which is one of the darkest, yet most beautiful churches in the city. Shooting in an environment like this is not for the feint of heart, but I loved every second of it.  It rained all day, and while it didn’t dampen the spirits of the wedding-goers, it brought out rich odors from the aged wood in the church.  It was a lovely ceremony.
