Happy Thanksgiving!

As previously mentioned, I’m volunteering my photography services to Sweet Miss Giving’s.  Here are some more goodies to drool over.  Hope they tide you over, because I’m heading to vacation in Panama.  I’ll be out for the first week of December and will have very limited access to e-mail and telephone.  In the meantime, have a happy Thanksgiving.

Aurora and Mike

The engagement session with Aurora and Mike was challenging and a joy. Challenging because it was after dark. A joy because Aurora and Mike are so much fun to hang out with. They are my kind of people: easy to laugh and hang out with at a local pub. Chicago’s holiday lights are gorgeous, and I’m so glad we took advantage of them.

Aurora and Mike, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding!

P.S. I’ve been told by Aurora that the last photo sums up their relationship perfectly. :)

My poor dogs: the guinea pigs

I tested off camera flash tonight.  These photos aren’t techinically correct, but the pups look so different with the light and shadows playing around them.  Winston and Murphy are so rambunctious with the cold weather setting in.  I must give them a long walk this weekend along with all of the last minute errands I need to do before my big trip to Panama after Thanksgiving.  I’ll be out of town for a week and I can’t wait for the warmth.

Don’t worry about the dogs though.  They’ll be sitting in the lap of luxury with other dogs to romp around with, and they’ll even have a little indoor pool to splash in.  Perhaps they’ll forgive me for all of my camera shennigans after a nice week at doggie camp.  Good times.

How can a girl ask for more?

From another wedding where I served as the second photographer with Jeremy Lawson…this is easily one of my favorite wedding photos of the season.  The Chicago Botanic Gardens are gorgeous and the weather was perfect that day.  Jeremy teased me because I kept exclaiming, “Look at the reflections!”  I guess I have a deep abiding love for reflections.  AND I am in love with this location and hope someday a bride and groom hire me to photograph their wedding there. *Hint hint*  ;)

Look at the swans!

The bridge

I’m so excited. My photographer friend, Jeremy Lawson, forwarded me some of my photos I took while working as a second photographer with him over the summer. Here are two of them. I love working with Jeremy. Not only is he fun to work with, but he also has the nicest clients…well not as nice as mine, of course. :)

Sweet Miss Giving’s

After reading this article from the Chicago Tribune, and I was propelled to call the new bakery Sweet Miss Giving’s and offer my donation of free photography services.

“Here’s the dream: The bakery hires homeless people with HIV and other disabilities, teaches them to chop, cream, fold, mix, pack, clean, deliver. They cater meetings and events for businesses, peddle wholesale to restaurants and coffee shops, sell gift packs to the public on their Web site ( www.sweetmissgivings.com).

The proceeds go to Chicago House. And other businesses recognize that the intern bakers are worth hiring.

Another do-gooding utopia destined to fail?

Reverend Stan grinned. It looked like a dare. ‘Watch us grow.’”

I was fortunate to be able to sample the goodies, including these items in the gift baskets.  Yummy!  The baked goods are FABULOUS!  (This is coming from a lover of baked goods who is especially picky.)  Don’t know what to get for your neighbors for the holidays?  Don’t know what to have for dessert when your family visits?  I highly recommend Sweet Miss Giving’s.

I love Boxers

Photographing people like Theresa and Greg make me so thrilled that I fell into photography.  They are a dream to work with and most importantly love photography so much that they’re willing to put up with the cold for good times.  The last time I photographed Theresa and Greg we encountered beautiful and sunny weather.  This time snow sprinkled its way into the photos.  Look closely, you’ll see the winter specks.

When Theresa began seeing my recent portraits with puppies, she contacted me about photographing her family portrait for her Christmas cards, complete with three boxers.  I was so excited because I’ve never photographed three dogs at once.   Theresa and Greg are the perfect parents and kept their pups in line despite all the neighboring distractions.  And oh, their boxer babies are ADORABLE with each having their own little personality.

ENJOY the photos, Theresa and Greg, and thanks for the hot chai tea afterwards.  I now officially induct you as my first members of Peacock’s Frequent Models Club.  You rock!
