Now that it’s winter, a lot of my clients become a little nervous when I suggest indoor family photos. But as you can see from below (and here is another example of an indoor family portrait session), I can photograph really beautiful moments in your family home because you are in your everyday surroundings. Kids especially love to show me their toys, pets, and rooms.
Go, go, go! That’s a two-year-old for you. Fortunately, I was able to keep up and document this little boy’s discoveries and fun with his parents. I especially loved his own love for stuffed animals. One of them was his mother’s when she was a girl.
I photographed Lisa and Daniel’s wedding almost ten years ago and now they have a son with soulful eyes and a friendly dog, both of whom I quickly fell in love.
I photographed this handsome family last year when they were just three members. Now with the addition of a baby boy, we had a great time enjoying beautiful weather and views of the Chicago skyline. Daddy and Mommy had quite the workout chasing their little girl around too. With three little ones myself, I totally related to them. 🙂
I was lucky to photograph this family, which included four generations. The little three-year girl was my helper and even told people where they needed to stand and where to look. I always try to engage kids in my photographic process so they remain excited about photos. She was so adorable.
This lovely family meets annually for a family portrait day, which includes both sets of grandparents. They have a lovely brunch, a makeup artist comes over and a photographer, aka me, takes their portraits. I absolutely love the idea of my clients hiring a makeup artist. Makeup isn’t a necessity, yet it builds confidence in my clients when they feel like they look their best. Confidence = relaxed smiles.
Photographing this happy baby’s baptism at the Holy Nativity Romanian Orthodox Church in Chicago made me very happy. I used to photograph ceremonies like weddings all of the time, but it’s been a while since I’ve been able to document such a meaningful event. I want to do more! Have a baptism, birth or birthday party coming up? I’m very interested.
This lovely Roscoe Village family photo session was a lot of fun to photograph, especially when the girls ate their popsicles. How cool would the popsicle photos look on a playroom wall in a series of prints? I love creating cool wall art with your family as subjects. Anybody up for an ice cream shoot?
These sisters were a dream to photograph and I love seeing their interactions. Mom and Dad are two very lucky people.
When I first spoke to this mom, she really emphasized her love for my candid photos. Inside I was like, “YESSS!” Capturing authentic moments creatively turns me on, so I was very much looking forward to the photo session.
During the day of the session, it was sticky hot and the little toddler was not feeling his top model best. Yet by the end of our time together, he was having a blast being thrown in the air, loved on by his family and seeing the cool Lincoln Park Eli Bates Fountain. As a mom to three little ones, I have very much experienced the same behavior and turnaround the zoo inspires out of its young visitors.
