Today I’m getting back to my blogging roots by writing a quick ten things about me. Me. Without the title of mom. Sometimes it’s easy to forget who we are without kids. I’m also peppering this post with photos I took before kids.

.) I bought my first camera for my own blog after reading the original blogger, Dooce. While always somewhat talented in art, I previously had never found the medium that could help me push past the frustration of not achieving perfection at first try. I fell in love with the digital camera for its immediate feedback and the ability to play with images on the computer.

.) My first love was reading. During childhood’s tough times, books were my cocoon from woes. Words still creatively recharge me.

.) I’m a choir nerd from wayyyyyy back. I miss singing in front of an audience and would love to join a choir again once my kids get a little older.

.) I have a very loud laugh and laugh often.

.) I’m a deep thinker. The thinking never turns off, hence why I love books and their ability to quiet the brain.

.) Cooking shows and Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise are my go-to when I’m cleaning or doing stressful things. I’m a pretty good cook but a lousy housewife.

.) I met my husband at a Latin music festival in Columbus, Ohio, where I used to live. I was big into salsa dancing then. I still love to shake and shimmy.

.) Inside I want to be a rocker with tats, leather and sexy Brigette Bardot hair. My personality and look are so far from this, it’s funny.

.) I’m happy to sit on the floor and play with the kids and dogs. I’m equally happy drinking a cocktail with bitters and discussing world affairs. (I majored in political science with a focus on international affairs.)

.) Pregnancy and raising babies really sapped my creativity and subsequently I felt like I lost a part of my identity. Fortunately, my deep need to create is back and I’m happier than ever.
